“A wise, inspiring, generous and relentless defender of the outsiders in Irish Society” – ALICE LEAHY

Prof. James McCormick who became active as a Trustee not long after the organisation was founded and served as Chairman up to the time of his recent death will be “long remembered as a great friend of the outsider” Alice Leahy, Director and Co-Founder of TRUST said.

“A wise, inspiring, generous and far-seeing leader who showed rare commitment in defending the outsiders in our society. He challenged everyone to reflect and question the world we live in and the nature of the human condition. However, James was not just a powerful colleague who could always be relied on but a great friend as well. We will miss him greatly and extend our very sincere sympathy to his wife Biddy and all of the members of his family,” ALICE LEAHY said.

Professor James McCormick was a man with many interests as well as a writer who lectured widely both in Ireland and abroad. A retired General Practitioner and Head of the Department of Community Health in TCD, he also served as first Chairman of the former Eastern Health Board.
